The World Grows Weary
BY NOAH ROLLEY
The world grows weary,
Of the state of its inhabitants.
The constant stream of hate and vehemence
Continues to grow its rising disdain.
A web of hurt people hurting more people,
Worldwide pain spread with the twitch of a thumb.
Information constantly twisted, lost, and ignored,
A corrupted, corrosive game of telephone played through telephones.
Good people gone bad, extreme, and violent.
Moral values thrown away; moral voices silenced.
The culture of communities spreading the hydrochloric voices
Decimating logic and assimilating established goodness
Where is the empathy, the kindness, the compassion?
It seems to have vanished from the human heart.
Replaced by anger, fear, and suspicion.
As if peace and harmony were simply a mirage.
The spiders of the world craft traps-
A world wide web of pain;
when their prey is swiftly snapped up, ensnared in their falsities,
It’s unknown what they gain, the disdain ever increasing.
Some spiders aren’t converted, changed, or manipulated,
Their hate is not injected but created from the get-go, they’re the origin.
They make the hate, they like the hate, they spread the hate,
And what do I hate? How they create more of themselves.
I’ve seen it firsthand, a good person, a close friend.
Toxins spread through them; toxicity spread through them.
Never seen them try to fix what they did, never acknowledged it.
Ended up cutting ties and I’ve always regretted it since.
It’s shocking how we’ve taken a gift so grand in its scale
twisted it so much, buried its purpose, crushed its benefits to shale.
Scroll and see a cooking recipe and a death,
Not out of the ordinary, no reaction, maybe it’s time for a reset.
We need to find a way to break the cycle.
To find common ground and work towards a better world.
To reach out across the divide and build bridges,
Not burn them down because of some idiot’s favorite idol.
We cannot let the spiders spread their venom,
Put a lid on the well of malice.
Nip the problem in the bud,
No more people progressing pain.
It won’t be easy, the world is weary, and it won’t happen overnight.
But we gotta start somewhere, before the poison touches our hearts.
For the sake of ourselves, and the world, and our future,
Let’s strive to be better, do better, and love better, take this gift, and soar to
new heights.
